NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The Sacred Heart University women's bowling program went 7-2 on the three-day weekend at the second Northeast Conference meet. The Pioneers are second in the league with a 14-2 record behind Fairleigh Dickinson, who are 17-1.
Sacred Heart twice defeated Duquesne (1034-981, 1045-969, 2.5-4.5), swept Wagner (1012-822, 981-757, 4-1) and lost once to Saint Francis University (951-964, 1005-863, 4-1).
SHU competes against the Knights on March 7. The team needs to win three matches over FDU to move into the top spot for the conference tournament.
Individually for the three days, Rachel Bamford led the team with an impressive 244 average in team games and an overall frame average of 21.82, with 62% strikes and 21 out of 22 single pins spares. The senior's success was followed by Colby Jones (20.36), Amanda Shelters (19.96) and Skyler Mulligan-Brown (19.81)
