LAS VEGAS – The Sacred Heart University women's bowling team concluded the opening day of the 2025 Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) on Thursday at the South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas, Nev.
SHU kicked off the event with a stellar showing in qualifying, ranking fourth of 16 teams after 24 Baker games. After a rough patch in the middle of the second block, the Pioneers rallied with four straight games over 200, including a 270 in game 21. Sacred Heart trailed just Jacksonville State, North Carolina A&T and Pikeville in qualifying.
After taking fourth, SHU met No. 13 Mount St. Mary's in the first round of match play. The Pioneers stormed out to a quick 3-1 advantage with 235-201, 246-186 and 199-194 wins. Unfortunately for the Pios, Mount caught fire in game five. The Mountaineers tallied 267, 211 and 279 pins in the last three games to earn a comeback victory.
With the loss, SHU will meet No. 5 Stephen F. Austin in round 3 of match play tomorrow morning. The elimination match is set to begin at 7:45 a.m. PT.
