MT. JOY, Pa. — The Sacred Heart University women's bowling went 2-1 against Mount St. Mary's on day three of Northeast Conference play, with 7-2 overall record.
On the day, Colby Jones had a career-high day, averaging 22.50 per frame and Amanda Shelters averaged 22.55 for the two matches she bowled.
Individually, Jones had the best weekend as a Pioneer, averaging 21.72 per frame. Over the three days and nine matches, Jones opened eight times and struck 57% of shots. Paige Donovan followed with an impressive 20.98 frame average, also with 57% strikes.
Match #1 – Team Game
- Suffered a narrow loss in the lowest scoring match of the long weekend.
- The Pioneers started off strong, taking a 70-pin lead after three frames.
- Sloppy play resulted in four splits and five missed spares over the next four frames to fall to a 30-pin deficit.
- The last three frames, strikes were surrounded by three missed spares to result in a 20-pin loss.

Match #2 – Baker Total Pinfall
- After a short break, and a lineup change, the team refocused and went back to filling frames to break 1000 and win by 74 pins.
- Shelters and Mercedes Morel came in off the bench, joined by Donovan, Jones and Rachel Bamford for the starting lineup.
- Jones led the team throwing seven out of 10 strikes for 224 in 10 frames, followed by Bamford who also had 10 clean frames for 222.

Match #3 – Baker Best of Seven
- With the same lineup from the previous match, the Pioneers won the match 4-2.
- Shelters threw an incredible 10 out of 12 strikes.
- In the third game of the seven baker set, Mount started first with five strikes, with SHU keeping up with a spare followed by seven straight strikes.
