Bowling Finishes Fourth At James Brown Invitational

The 13th ranked Sacred Heart University women's bowling team dropped three matches on Sunday, the final day of the James Brown Invitational, to finish in fourth place. The Pioneers are 47-32 on the season after going 7-5 at the three-day event.

The Pioneers are back in action at the NEC Meet #3, February 22-23.

Match 10 (Mount St. Mary's 4, SHU 0)

  • Mount scored over 200 in the final two matches and over 182 in all four, to sweep the Pioneers

Match 11 (Kutztown 4, SHU 1)

  • SHU won the opening match, 206-161, but didn't break 200 in the next four matches
  • Kutztown scored a match-best 222 in a third game win, before earning a 195-192 win in the fifth

Match 12 (Duquesne 4, SHU 3)

  • The Pioneers opened with a 208-170 win in the first set, before the Dukes evened the match with a 180-163 victory
  • The Pioneers scored 207 and 221 in the next two games to build a 3-1 lead
  • Duquesne notched a 265 score in game five and a 289 in the sixth, to even the match, before winning game seven, 193-159 to earn the victory
