Bowling Posts Two Wins In NEC Action Sunday

The 19th ranked Sacred Heart University bowling team was 2-1 on the second-day of Northeast Conference Meet 2, finishing the weekend at 5-1. The Pioneers are 24-18 overall and 8-4 in conference play.

In the first match on Sunday, the Pioneers bowled their lost score of the weekend, falling to 10th ranked Duquesne, 965-861. Caitlyn Kelly led the Pioneers with a 201 in the match.

SHU rebounded against St. Francis Brooklyn, earning a close-fought 894-885 victory. Tori Boughton scored a 315 in the match, to pace the Pioneers effort.

Boughton was over 200 in the final match, with a 211, helping SHU to the 926-817 win over LIU, who had entered Sunday in second place in the league standings. Nicole Cona bowled the best score in the win over LIU, with a 224, in her second match of the weekend.

Boughton averaged 206.3 pins per match on Sunday, and led the Pioneers with 1,237 total pins in six matches. 

The Pioneers will compete next in 2020, travelling to the Northeast Invitational, January 17-19th.
