The Sacred Heart University bowling team opened Northeast Conference action on Saturday in Mechanicsburg, Pa. The Pioneers went 2-2 on the day in total pinfall matches.

The Pioneers opened play on Saturday with a 994-944 win over Fairleigh Dickinson. Mercedes Morel made her collegiate debut in the vitory. SHU had a high-match of 218 in the five game set. The Pioneers had a high-game of 213 versus St. Francis Brooklyn, but couldnt overcome a 208-124 loss in the second game and the Terriers bowling a 246 in the third game.

In the third match, a loss to LIU, the Pioneers had the high-game, with a 224-184 win in the third game. The squad rebounded in the fourh game, surpassing 200 in four of the games, with a 214-180 win in the fifth to secure the victory

SHU will continue action today, with matches versus Duquesne and Mount St. Mary's
