The Sacred Heart University bowling team split its two matches Sunday as it concluded the opening weekend of Northeast Conference play. The Pioneers finished the weekend 3-3 in NEC action and are now 11-12 overall.
SHU fell to Duquesne in the fifth match of the weekend, and Sunday's opening contest, 992-949. The Dukes opened with a 209-183 victory, to which SHU responded in the second game, with a 197-177. The Dukes won the next three, including a 216-214 fourth game.
The Pioneers defeated Mount St. Mary's 929-894 in the final contest of the weekend. SHU scored over 200 points in both the first and third games, and won the fourth, 188-151.
SHU returns to action November 22-24 at the UMES Hawk Classic, in Millsboro, Del.
