The Sacred Heart University women's bowling team placed 17th at the SFA Jax Invitational in Houston, Texas. The tournament field consisted of 18 of the top 25 ranked teams in the nation, with the Pioneers facing four of the top seven ranked teams in the opening matches of pool play.

Lauren Hoffman led the team with a 19.77 frame average, and her 204.8 averaged was good for 18^th in the individual standings.  Freshman Tori Boughton made her debut as a starter during the weekend, playing in every match and finishing second on the team in average.

The Pioneers, ranked 10^th in the most recent NTCA National Poll, return to action February 25-26^th at the second Northeast Conference Meet of the year. The Pioneers are atop the NEC standings at 10-0.

Day 1 – Friday, February 10 (Baker Matches)

• Boughton threw five strikes in the match

• Amanda Nardiello led the team with a clean 242 game, with Hoffman right behind her with a 222 clean game
• Casey Smith came off of the bench in the ninth frame with a spare and three strikes

• Boughton shot 235, throwing the last seven strikes to keep the match close going into the final two bowlers

• SHU Swept the opening round of bracket play form the 18^th seeded Texas Southern
• Boughton and Nardiello threw five of eight strikes

Match 11

• #12 Monmouth 4 - #10 SHU 2
• The teams split the opening games, before Monmouth won games three and four to open a 3-1 lead
• SHU bowled a 236 in game five, but Monmouth answered with a win in game six to clinch the match

Match 12

• #10 SHU 4 – Maryville 0
• The Pioneers swept the match, including a tight four-point win in the third game
• Nardiello struck six of eight shots in the victory
• Hoffman filled each frame with strikes or spare
