How It Happened:
Set 1:
- The Pioneers jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but the Golden Eagles came back to even the score a five. A bad set by Charleston tipped the scales back in favor of SHU, but not for long as Rajahl Moxey's service ace once again evened the score at seven
- Just two points later, SHU came alive taking a significant seven-point lead on Austin Arcala's seven-point service run that featured kills from the senior, Delucie and Comens
- Despite stringing together small runs, Charleston wasn't able to catch the Pioneers and SHU took a 1-0 lead in the match
Set 2:
- The Golden Eagles got the opening point, but a kill from Comens got it all started as Sacred Heart took the next five points
- With the Pioneers up 6-3, a block from Taylor Bloomquist ignited a 9-2 hot streak that put SHU up 13-7
- Sacred Heart ended the match on another 9-2 run the culminated in the 25-10 win
Set 3:
- Charleston got an early 2-0 advantage with back-to-back kills from Eugene Stuart . The Pioneers took the next point on a Golden Eagle service error, but couldn't seem to carry over set two's offensive burst into the third set
- The Golden Eagles held the advantage throughout most of the set, taking their largest lead of five points, 13-8, on a SHU attack error. The Pioneers chipped away until a kill from Arcala prompted a three-point streak that evened the score at 19 before giving SHU its first lead of the set 20-19
- With the teams trading points, the score tied again at 20, 21 and 22. The final tie broke in the Pioneers' favor due to a Golden Eagle attack error, and Arcala moved Sacred Heart to match point with a kill
- Charleston got one more point, but a kill from rookie setter Noah Ricchetti sealed the set and match for the Pioneers
