FORT WORTH, Texas – For the second straight season, the Sacred Heart University bowling team qualified for Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) after two days of competition at Cityview Lanes in Fort Worth, Texas.
SHU will make its 14th appearance in the ITC finals. The Pios went 1995-2004, 2013-2014, 2018, 2024 and 2025. This year and last marked the first time in 11 years that Sacred Heart will go to back-to-back ITC finals.
The Pioneers placed first out of 18 teams at their sectional, finishing the 64 Baker qualifying games with a final pin total of 12,428. No. 12-ranked SHU topped multiple nationally-ranked teams on its way to victory, as Newman took second, Central Missouri was third, Lindenwood was fourth as the last qualifying team.
Sacred Heart trailed Central Missouri and Columbia College after the first block of games, but quickly got to the lead by the second block. The Pioneers finished in the top three in all three blocks, winning the last one to claim the dominant victory.
Nationals will take place on Apr. 14-19 at South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas.
Before heading to Vegas, the Pioneers will next travel to Smyrna, Tenn., for the Music City Classic hosted by No. 3 Vanderbilt.
