MOUNT JOY, Pa. – The No. 12 Sacred Heart University bowling team ended the Mount Shootout, hosted by Mount St. Mary's in Mount Joy, Pa., Sunday in third place in the 13-team field.
The Pioneers finished 7-5 at the event, beating the host No. 16 Mountaineers in the third-place match. SHU went into the championship Sunday as the third-ranked team with a 210.6 average, trailing eventual champion No. 22 FDU (213.7).
SHU took the third-place match by a 4-1 final score, hitting 200 in all but one game. The Pioneers fell to Niagara in the first match Sunday, 4-1, but bounced back with a 4-2 win over No. 21 Delaware State in the second round.
Megan Prettyman led the way for the Pioneers with a 210.6 average in all five of SHU's traditional matches.
Paige Donovan was next at 191.6 in five matches, while
Hope Bunk went 235.0 in four contests.
The Pios will be back in action at the ISC Sectionals on Friday-Sunday, Mar. 7-9.
