FORT MEADE, Md. – The Sacred Heart University bowling team brought home the win at the James Brown Invitational, hosted by Morgan State this weekend in Fort Meade, Md.
The 12-ranked Pioneers were the top team in qualifying, facing No. 18 UMES in the first round of the championship bracket. SHU won 4-2, meeting the Hawks again in the first-place match, where it took a 4-1 victory.
Sacred Heart went 6-3 in qualifying, 3-1 in baker and 3-2 in traditional matches. All three of the Pios' losses came to ranked teams, with one coming by six pins and another by 14.
Hope Bunk and
Cira Arcangel led the way for the Pioneers with averages of 194.60 and 193.40, respectively. For their efforts Bunk and Arcangel made the All-Tournament Team.
The Pios will be back in action at the ISC Sectionals on Friday-Sunday, Mar. 7-9.
