SMYRNA, Tenn. – The Sacred Heart University bowling team took 12th place at the three-day Columbia 300 Music City Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt at the Smyrna Bowling Center.
The Pioneers placed 12th in the challenging field, which featured all five of the top-five teams in the March NTCA March Coaches Poll. SHU finished the tournament with a 7-5 record, winning three traditional and two Baker matches.
The highlights of the Pios' weekend were earning ranked wins over No. 14 Newman, No. 20 McKendree and No. 22 Oklahoma Christian. The McKendree victory featured SHU's highest total of the weekend with a thrilling 1,073-1,040 triumph.
Individually,
Hannah Manetta led Sacred Heart with a 199.00 average in five traditional matches. Her best score was 220 in SHU's win over McKendree.
Madilyn Yockel appeared in two traditional matches and maintained a 198.50 average.
The Columbia 300 Music City Classic was Sacred Heart's final tune-up before the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship, which will span Friday-Sunday, March 22-24, at the Hamilton Lanes & Entertainment Center in Hamilton Township, N.J.
