Pioneers Finish 10th at Hawk Classic

Sacred Heart went 6-7 overall, while facing some nationally ranked opponents

MILLSBORO, Del.—The Sacred Heart University bowling team finished 10th overall at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawk Classic over the weekend. The Pioneers went 6-7 for the weekend finishing 10th out of the 18-team field where 14 of the 18 teams are ranked in the top 25 in the country.

Amanda Shelters led the team with a 19.05 frame average in the seven matches she competed in. Rachel Glowniak bowled all 13 matches and had an 18.58 frame average.

On the opening day of the tournament, Sacred Heart went 4-1, picking up wins over Monmouth, Saint Francis University, Morgan State, Wilmington University and dropped their last match to Mount St. Mary's.

During the second day of competition, the Pioneers fell to 1-4 on the day. Sacred Heart loss to Vanderbilt, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, North Carolina A&T State, and Delaware State. The one victory of the day was against Mercyhurst.

On Sunday, the Pioneers opened the final day with a win over Wilmington before dropping the next two to University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Mount St. Mary's.

Sacred Heart is back in action on December 3rd at the NEC Meet #2. The Pioneers are second in standings after the first of three rounds.
