GARDEN CITY, N.J.- The Sacred Heart women's bowling team finished eighth overall in the Adelphi Dezy Strong Classic over the weekend. The Pioneers went 7-6 during the three days of competition.
Hannah Manetta led Sacred Heart, knocking down 957 pins for a 191.4 average in five games.
Nancy Kohut brought down 935 pins and had a 187.0 average in five games.
During the first day in the Baker format, the Pioneers beat Bloomfield, Louisiana Tech, and Saint Anselm but fell to Vanderbilt and Youngstown State.
On the second day of the competition, Sacred Heart was 3-2 in the Traditional format. The Pioneers beat Mount St. Mary's, Tulane, and Bryant but fell to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Stephen F. Austin.
During the championship day on Sunday, the Pioneers took on FDU in the first round and won 837-797. Sacred Heart moved on to the next round to face Tulane but lost 997-838. In a rematch in the final round against FDU, the Pioneers fell 759-651 to finish eighth overall in the tournament.
Sacred Heart will open Northeast Conference competition on November 12th and 13th in Pittsburgh, Pa.
