Box Score LORETTO, Pa. – The Sacred Heart University men's volleyball team keeps knocking on the door of their first victory, but they can't quite get it open yet. The Pioneers dropped a 3-1 (25-18, 25-21, 27-29, 25-15) decision at St. Francis on Friday.

St. Francis used runs in the middle of the first two sets to grab a 2-0 advantage. The Pioneers almost got swept, trailing 18-10 in the third se,t but worked their way back thanks to four SFU errors and a block by Patrick Mucherino and Ife Loverton. Sacred Heart staved off two match points before getting two more SFU miscues and a kill by Nicholas Palluzzi to win the set.
Topping the Pioneers was rookie Patrick Mucherino with 10 kills and a .417 hitting percentage. Ife Loverton and Mark Berry were next with seven winners. Libero Timothy McIntosh recorded a match-high 12 digs.
The Red Flash did damage at the service line with 10 aces, compared to one by the visitors. St. Francis also had a 39-28 advantage in digs and hit .263 while limiting the Pioneers to .198.
