Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's volleyball team jumped out early on NJIT but couldn't ride that momentum to victory. The Pioneers fell 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-19) to the Highlanders on Saturday.

Four-straight aces from Nicholas Palluzzi got the Pioneers out to a 6-0 start then the lead grew to 10-3 on an NJIT error. The Highlanders worked their way back and tied the match at 16-16. SHU took a 23-22 lead on a Shawn Tischler kill, but NJIT won the final three points to take the set.
Runs midway through the second and third sets gave the Highlanders just enough cushion to win the match.
Four different Pioneers had four or more kills, topped by rookie Mark Berry with seven. Setter Teddy Payne had 23 assists and a match-high seven digs.
SHU couldn't slow down the Highlanders' offense as they hit .397.
