Box Score NEWARK, NJ – While the Sacred Heart University men's volleyball team improved on the offensive side of the net in game two against NJIT, the Pioneers could not figure out how to slow down the Highlanders. NJIT topped the Pioneers 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-16) on Friday.

Sacred Heart's best chance to take a set off NJIT came in the opening stanza. Carlos Terrassa's kill knotted the set at 6-6. Fellow rookie Patrick Mucherino notched a kill to pull SHU within 12-11, but the Highlanders responded with a 7-2 run.
Notching his first double-digit kill performance was Mucherino with a team-high 11 winners. Terrassa was close behind with seven kills plus a match-high six digs. For the second match in a row, setter Teddy Payne handed out 16 assists.
The Pioneers upped their hitting percentage to .115 from one match to the next, but the Highlanders hit .391. NJIT also had the advantage in digs (30-21), aces (7-2) and blocks (6-2).
