Pioneers Post Solid Performances at VUU Invitational

SHU finished third in second tournament of the season

RICHMOND, Va. – The Sacred Heart University women's bowling team finished third at the Virginia Union Invitational over the weekend. 
 
On the first day of the three-day tournament, the team competed in five baker matches and found success in four. The lone loss came against Morgan State. 
 
In day two, the Pioneers posted dropped just one match to Morgan State, 989-966, but were victorious over Coppin State (948-894), Fayetteville State (997-924), and Virginia State (1,007-726). Hannah Mannetta posted the best score of the day at 278 in game four against FSU. 
 
During the final day on Sunday, the Pioneers went 2-1 in baker matches. Morgan and Coppin State got their revenge. The Red & White fell narrowly to MSU, 4-2, to kick off the day. The Pioneers squeaked out the first game, 159-158, against Coppin but the Eagles went on to win four-straight for the 4-1 victory. SHU ended the day on a high note when the team posted a 4.5-1.5 victory of Bowie State. 
 
The Pioneers are back in action this weekend when they take on Northeast Conference opponents in New Brunswick, N.J. on November 6 and 7.
