The Sacred Heart University men's volleyball team fell 3-0 to NJIT. The Pioneers drop to 4-9 overall and 0-7 in the EIVA, while the Highlanders improve to 8-5 overall and 3-3 in the EIVA.

The Pioneers had a .110 hit percentage while the Highlanders registered a .304 hit percentage.

Sacred Heart head on the road to face North Park on March 2 at 7 p.m.

• Connor Mahoney had eight kills, five digs and one solo block
• Shawn Tischler recorded six kills and one block assist
• Ramiro Balaguer registered 24 assists, one kill and two digs
• NJIT had two players with 15 kills, Gimeno and Meissner

First Set (25-20 NJIT)

• The Highlanders got out to an early 4-1 lead
• Sacred Heart then outscored NJIT 3-1 with a kill from Paulo Samin and Mahoney, 8-7
• NJIT then went on a 4-0 run to lead 12-8.
• A kill by Tischler sparked a 3-1 run to come within two of NJIT, 14-12
• The Pioneers outscored the Highlanders 4-1 with a kill from Aaron Peterson, Calin Butler and a service ace from Paulo Samin to tie the game at 18 all
• NJIT countered with a 4-0 run to lead 23-19 and would take set one 25-20

Second Set (25-21 NJIT)

• After a tight couple rallies the Pioneers found themselves with a 5-3 lead
• The Highlanders would go on a 3-0 run to tie the game at 8-8
• NJIT outscored Sacred Heart 4-1 to lead 12-10, but Sacred Heart would snag two quick points to tie the game, 12-12
• NJIT went on a 3-0 run to lead, 16-1
• The Pioneers kept the game close, but NJIT outscored Sacred Heart 4-1 in the final five rallied to take set two 25-21

Third Set (25-15 NJIT)

• Sacred Heart went up 2-1 early with a kill from Samin, however NJIT tied it at 3-3
• The Pioneers then went on a 3-0 run with a kill and a service ace from Peterson and a kill from Mahoney
• This lead was kept until NJIT went on a 6-0 to lead 11-8, the Pioneers counterd with a 2-0 run, 11-10
• The Highlanders outscored the Pioneers 6-1 increasing their advantage to 17-11
• NJIT went on a 6-1 run to win the third set 25-15
