Box Score The Sacred Heart University men's volleyball team dropped its 2018 home finale 3-1 to EIVA foe Princeton University, Saturday evening at the Pitt Center.
Jakob Karlsson led the Pioneers with 15 kills and a .393 hitting percentage. Emerson Waumans (13) and Rob Chatterton (11) both reached double figures in kills as well. Joshua Ayzenberg recorded a match-best 11 digs. George Huhmann had 26 kills in the match for Princeton
SHU returns to action on Thursday at Alderson Broaddus, in the first of a three-match season ending road swing.

First Set: Princeton 25-23
- Mike Fuerst served Princeton to a 3-0 lead, including an ace, before serving long to give the Pioneers their first points of the day
- The Pioneers battled back to tie the score, after a Shawn Tischler kill and a Tiger hitting error
- The Tigers killed the next two possessions and scored five of the next seven points to build a 12-9 advantage
- The run extended to 9-4, helped in part by two SHU errors, forcing the Pioneers to take a timeout trailing 16-11
- Out of the break, kills from George Huhmann and Greg Luck helped extend the Tigers lead to 18-12
- A service error by Princeton, was followed by kills from Emerson Waumans and Jakob Karlsson to cut the deficit to 18-15
- Shawn Tischler served an ace to get the Pioneers within two, 18-16, and force a timeout by Princeton
- Trailing 20-17, Rob Chatterton put down a pass from Noah Richetti, and then Karlsson killed back-to-back balls, knotting the score, 20-20
- Richetti served into the net out of the break as Princeton scored four of five points to take a 24-21 advantage
- A Chatterton kill and a Tiger hitting error got SHU within one, but Huhmann ended the set with a kill on the next point
Second Set: SHU 25-21
- The teams traded leads and points during the opening eight points, with SHU tying the score, 4-4, on a Princeton service error
- SHU gave the point back with a service error of its own, followed by three consecutive Pioneer hitting errors, to give the Tigers an 8-4 lead
- Kills by Waumans and Bloomquist got SHU rolling; a Tischler ace tied the set, 8-8 and SHU scored seven-straight to build an 11-8 lead
- Princeton scored four of the next five, capped by a block by Junior Oboh and Parker Dixon that tied the score 12-12
- After a bad set tied the score 13-13, a Huhmann service error started a 3-0 Pioneer run, that included a Chatterton kill and a Karlsson ace to force Princeton to a timeout, with SHU leading 16-13
- A Tischler kill started a run that stretched a two-point lead to 21-16 in favor of the Pioneers
- A Kelly kill and back-to-back SHU hitting errors returned the deficit to two points, 22-20
- Princeton got no closer and Chatterton and Waumans ended the set with a block
Third Set: Princeton 25-17
- SHU took an early 3-2 lead on a kill from Waumans, but Princeton responded with three consecutive points to take the 5-3 edge
- A Princeton service error kicked off a 4-0 SHU run, capped by a Waumans kill and the Pioneers leading 7-6
- The Tigers would answer with three straight points and five of six points to force a SHU timeout with the 11-8 lead
- A Tigers block and kill from Huhmann out of the timeout gave the visitor a 13-8 advantage
- The Pioneers were unable to bring the deficit under four, with the advantage growing to as many as nine, 23-14
- A solo block by Huhmann sealed the set win for Princeton
Set Four: Princeton 27-25
- Neither side was able to open space in the early parts of the set, with eight ties through 9-9
- A service error put Princeton in front 10-9, and started a 3-0 run for the Tigers forcing a Pioneer timeout
- SHU scored twice out of the timeout, to close within 12-11, with a Chatterton kill and a Princeton hitting error
- SHU was able draw even, 16-16, with consecutive kills from Karlsson
- A Chatterton kill out of the timeout put SHU in front, 17-16, for the first-time since 7-6
- Huhmann answered with a kill for the Tigers and then back-to-back blocks put Princeton back in front 19-17
- SHU kept the set within two points before drawing even at 23-23 on a block from Tyler Lee and Bloomquist, forcing a Tigers timeout
- Huhmann recorded the kill to move Princeton to match point for the first time, but Karlsson answered with a kill of his own
- A SHU service error again but SHU on the precipice, but another Karlsson kill staved off match point
- Princeton earned its third match point off of a block and a service ace from Huhmann ended the match

- Huhmann was errorless in the opening set, connecting for nine kills on 11 swings (.818)
