The Sacred Heart University men's volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep of visiting Coker College in a non-conference match at the Pitt Center Saturday night.  The victory improved the Pioneers to 3-4 overall, while the Cobras fell to 1-11.

Enzo Mackenzie finished with 19 kills and hitting .500 for the match, helping the Pioneers to a team-hitting percentage of .344 for the match.  Austin Arcala had 10 kills, hitting .533, to go along with five digs.  Eduarda Zardo handed out 33 assists on the day, with three kills and four digs.

The Pioneers jumped out to a 10-4 lead and extended it to 15-6 as they opened the match hitting .769.  Mackenzie hit .625 in the set, finishing with six kills on eight swings.  The Pioneers hit .542 in the set, winning 25-16, with just three errors on 24 swings.

SHU used a quick start on its way to a 25-21 win in the second set.  Kills from Travis Vonholt and Mackenzie and an ace from Vonholt helped the Pioneers to a 3-0 lead, which expanded to a 7-1 advantage. The Pioneers held the Cobras at bay, never allowing them closer than two points, three times, in the final stages of the set, and earning the victory on a block from Austin Arcala and Raymond Satagaj. 

The Pioneers hit .419 in the second set, behind Mackenzie's six kills, on 11 swings, without an error.  SHU again had just three errors, on 31 swings, in the set Zardo recorded 15 assists in the second set.

The third set was a back-and-forth affair that saw Coker take its first lead of the match, 11-10. The set was tied 14 times and didn't come until the final point, when SHU scored four straight points to turn a 21-20 deficit into at 24-21 advantage. Coker answered with three straight, knotting the score 24-24.  The teams traded points, with a Mackenzie kill putting SHU up 26-25, before he served the match clinching ace on the next point.

The Pioneers are back in action on Coach Bike Court on Friday night when they host Penn State.  The EIVA match begins at 7 p.m.
