Box Score Fairfield, Conn. (April 5, 2013)—The Sacred Heart Men's Volleyball team was swept by Princeton Saturday afternoon in the William H. Pitt Center. Brad Borsay (Richmond, R.I.) led the match with 10 kills, while freshman setter Benjamin Thomas (Swansea, Ill.) recorded 28 assists. The Pioneers were outplayed by the Tigers, who are the No. 2 team in the EIVA, on all levels, being outhit .386 to .167 despite each team registering 35 kills. Twenty-one attack errors hurt SHU who fell 25-21, 25-18 and 25-13. The Pioneers are now 3-17 in 2013 and 1-10 in conference.
Nick Hunt (Uniondale, N.Y.) recorded six kills in the first set as the Pioneers battled, but were never able to recover after Princeton's opening three-point run. Hunt, in his best set of the day, posted five digs and a .500 hitting percentage with 10 attempts and one error in the 25-21 loss.
The Tigers snagged the first two points on a SHU attack error and service ace. The Pioneers tied the game at two, but it was all Princeton after that as they went on to take a 2-0 match lead with the 25-18 set win. Raymond Satagaj (Rocky Hill, Conn.) led the set with four kills.
Princeton dominated the final set, outhitting the Pioneers .474 to .050. Once again, they capitalized on an early lead, taking the first six points on Will Siroky's service run. After Sacred Heart cut the lead to four points, 8-4, the Tigers kicked off a five-point run to take a big 13-4 lead. Borsay and
Jose Juelle (Guaynabo, PR) led Sacred Heart with three kills a piece.
The Pioneer continue the homestand next weekend, playing Rutgers-Newark Friday at 7:00 p.m. and NJIT Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
