FULL RESULTS
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Sacred Heart women's track and field team made quite an impression at its first MAAC Outdoor Championship. The Pioneers finished second with 137.5 points. Rider, which hosted the championship, won with 230 points. Mount St. Mary's placed third with 121.5 points.
Elena Chaplin was the MAAC shot put champion, with a toss of 12.86 meters, which edged out Rider's Rachel Lavigne, who had a throw of 12.81 meters. Two other Pioneers scored in the event.
Ariyana Jackson (12.28 meters) was fifth and
Lauren Morales (11.79 meters) placed eighth.
Several SHU student athletes reached the medal stand.
Sierra Thompson was second in the 200 dash with a time of 24.28 and finished third in the 110 hurdles (14.50).
The Pioneers excelled in the high jump.
Lauryn Piccirelli (1.66 meters) was second,
Veralie Perrier (1.63m) finished third,
Magdalena Brogioli (1.63m) placed fourth and
Chloe McGinty and
Kaitlyn Caraco tied for sixth, both with leaps of 1.58 meters.
In the 110 hurdles, Brogioli captured the silver medal with a time of 14.30. The 4x100 relay won the bronze in 47.13.
Other scorers for the Pioneers included
Kaitlyn Caraco (7th, triple jump),
Ava Srinivasan (8th triple jump), Morales (5th, discus),
Nyahingiva Musa (4th, 100 dash), Brogioli (6th, 100 dash), Srinivasan (8th, 400m) and
Grace Sousa (5th, 5000m).
Next up for the Pioneers is the ECAC Championship next weekend at George Mason.
