NEW HAVEN, CT. — The Pioneers took a quick trip to New Haven to compete at the Wilton Wright Invitational. Throughout two days of competition, the Pios would medal in over half of the events and win five. The continued depth proved to be substantial as the final score on the day for the Pioneers was 242.5, beating the next closest team by over 100 points.
Wins by Nyahingiva Musa in the 100m dash, Magdalena Brogioli in the 100m hurdles, Ava Srinivasan in the 400m hurdles, Annalise Nassy in the Triple Jump, and the 4x100m relay team that included Musa, Brogioli, Nassy, and Mackenzie Fuhrer highlighted the weekend.
Tori Chorzepa went on to finish in second in the 400m, completing her race in 1:02.60. Pole vault had six scorers, highlighted by the second-place finish from Sopha Demilio (3.48m), third-place Sydney Abitanto (3.33m), and fourth-place Veralie Perrier (3.18m). High jump also had multiple scorers, with five Pioneers cracking the top eight. Perrier also came in fourth as Lauryn Piccirelli and Brogioli completed in third and second, respectively.
The longest event of the weekend was the Heptathlon, which took two days to complete and consisted of seven events: 100m hurdles, 200m, 800m, high jump, long jump, shot put, and javelin. Three Pioneers finished in the top five. Kaitlyn Caraco came in fifth with 3778 points, and Kayleigh Troy finished third with 3886 points. Georgia Roberts was the top Pioneer, finishing in second with 4081 points.
