BOSTON, MA — After two days of competition, the Sacred Heart track and field programs walk away with two top-five finishes at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) championships. The men finished in fifth with 51 points and the women finished tied for third with 97 points.
Senior Lance Hayes grabbed the gold medal in the 500M after running a school record 1:03.50. Grace Sousa grabbed her second medal of the weekend after placing second in the 3K while junior Maggie Brogioli grabbed her second and third medal. Brogioli finished second in both the 60M hurdles and the high jump
Joshua Sanders finished his heptathlon in second place. The sophomore secured a personal best 4,521 points after competing in seven events over two days. The men's 4x800M team of Jordan Leon, Andy Cuahuizo-Mendez, Lance Hayes, and Owen Delisle grabbed another second place finish for the Pios. The team completed the 16 lap race in 7:59.25.
