Strong First MAAC Season for Track & Field

Several Pioneers posted top five all-time MAAC performances

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Sacred Heart men's and women's track and field teams certainly made a strong impression in their first season in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Several Pioneers posted top five all-time MAAC performances. 
 
Sierra Thompson had a leap of 6.02 meters outdoors in the long jump, which is the fifth longest all time. Thompson also finished in 24.12 seconds outdoors in the 200-meter dash, which is the second fastest in MAAC history.  
 
Magdalena Brogioli added her name to the MAAC all-time top five in two indoor events – high jump (1.74 meter, t-4th best) and the 60 high hurdles (8.60 seconds, 5th fastest). 
 
On the men's side, the 4x400 relay team of Rafael Mahario, Colin Brown, Connor Meikle and Lance Hayes posted the fastest time (3:10.61) all time en route to capturing the MAAC outdoor title. In addition, Mahario ran the third fastest time (47.33) in the 400 meters. 
 
In their inaugural season, the women finished in the top three at both the MAAC indoor (3rd) and outdoor (2nd) championship, while the men were seventh at both championships.
