KINGSTON, R.I. — Magdalena Brogioli's bronze medal outing accentuated a strong showing for the Sacred Heart University women's track and field team as it began the 2024-25 indoor season at the University of Rhode Island Pentathlon on Friday.
Brogioli claimed SHU's highest placement during the one-day meet, finishing with a combined score of 3171 which was 40 points better than her closest competitor. She claimed event wins in her strongest individual events, taking top honors in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.95 seconds and taking first with a clearance of 1.63m in the high jump.
A trio of first year's headlined SHU's remaining top scorers during the meet with Sierra Thompson and Kaitlyn Caraco finishing in seventh and eighth, respectively, while Georgia Robarts claimed a tie for ninth. Thompson and Caraco finishing within 31 points of each other in their collegiate debuts with scores of 2281 and 2250, respectively. Thompson's highest finish came in the high jump with a fifth-place clearance of 1.57m while Caraco grabbed a tie with Brogioli for the top spot in the high jump after clearing 1.63m. Robarts grabbed her highest finish in the long jump with a fifth place jump of 4.95m.
Sophomore
Kayleigh Troy and first year's Chloe McGinty and Marissa Fiacco were the final scorers for SHU during the day. Troy grabbed her highest placement in the 800m run with an eighth-place finish while McGinty placed ninth in the high jump. Fiacco showed well on the afternoon with her highest finish coming in the long jump with a mark of 4.60m. Full results can be found at
