KINGSTON, R.I. — Langston Pearson's third place finish in the men's heptathlon highlighted a strong showing for the Sacred Heart University men's track and field team as it began the 2024-25 indoor campaign at the University of Rhode Island Heptathlon on Friday.
Pearson showed strong in all seven events with his highest placements coming in the 60-meter hurdles (8.89 seconds) and the long jump (6.53m) where he placed third. Pearson, who ended with a total score of 4492, finished only 115 points back of second place while narrowly edging out teammate
Douglas Suter, who claimed fourth.
Suter had a strong day as well for the SHU multi's, taking a score of 4203 with dominant showings in the pole vault and 1000m run. In pole vault, Suter grabbed second place after clearing 3.80m while his time of 2:58.62 in the 1000m run was nearly four seconds faster than his closest competitor.
Joshua Sanders and Holden Crabbs were the lone other Pioneers who participated across the two-day competition. Sanders, who grabbed sixth place with a score of 4168, earned his highest finish during the meet in the high jump with a third place clearing of 1.82m. Crabbs, who rounded out the 12 scoring competitors, had a strong outing in his first collegiate heptathlon with three top-10 finishes. Full results can be found at
