Box Score STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – An upset of the number two team in the country wasn't in the cards for the Sacred Heat University men's volleyball team. The Pioneers lost, 3-0 (25-16, 31-29, 25-20), to second-ranked Penn State on Saturday.

Records:
Sacred Heart: 8-12, 2-10 EIVA
#2 Penn State: 19-3, 12-0 EIVA

Top Performers:
Patrick Mucherino (SHU) 14 kills
Ife Loverton (SHU) 6 kills, 3 blocks

Up Next:
The Pioneers continue EIVA action Friday at #15 NJIT.

Of Note:
Sacred Heart was down 16-8 in the second set before mounting a comeback. SHU fought off four set points thanks to a pair of Patrick Mucherino kills and two PSU errors. Two more Mucherino winners gave SHU two chances to win the set, but they couldn't put away the Nittany Lions.

A block by Ife Loverton and Dylan McClung got the Pioneers within 17-16 in the third set, but that's as close as SHU would get the rest of the match.

Leading all players was Mucherino as he recorded 14 kills, more than half of SHU's total. Loverton followed with a half dozen winners and a team-best three blocks.

Penn State out-hit the Pioneers, .286-to-.147.
