Box Score 2 FAIRFIELD, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University softball team returned to Pioneer Park on Sunday afternoon splitting a two-game series with Stony Brook falling in the first 6-0 and winning in extra innings in game two 5-4.

Of Note
- Stony Brook would take an early 2-0 lead in the top half of the first inning with an RBI single and sac fly.
- The Seawolves held the Pioneers to just three hits with the first hit not coming until the fifth inning which came from Kiley Gurysh off a single to left field.
- Stony Brook's Dawn Bodrug struck out 16 Pioneers while allowing just two walks in the complete game shutout.

Of Note
- After falling behind 2-0 in the top half of the first, junior Alyssa Gonzalez ripped a single to right field scoring first-years Emily Carroll and Victoria LoPinto to even the score up at 2-2.
- Stony Brook soon answered with a two-run homer by Jourdin Hering in the top of the second to give the Seawolves a 4-2 lead.
- After Maighread Scafariello nailed an RBI single in the bottom of the third to narrow the Stony Brook lead to 4-3, it wouldn't be until the bottom half of the seventh when Gonzalez fired another single through the left side scoring Carroll and LoPinto again to tie the game up at 4-4 and sending the game into extra innings.
- Then in the bottom of the ninth, first-year Emily Carroll recorded her second homer of the year this time in walk-off fashion with a bomb over the left-field fence to give the Pioneers the 5-4 victory.
- Carroll went 3-5 in the box on the day while Gonzalez went 3-4 with three RBI's.
