Softball Places Five on CSC Academic All-District List

Freed, Heath, Koltko, Kowalski and Teodosio were recognized for their academic and athletic achievement

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – In recognition of their excellence on the field and in the classroom, Sacred Heart University softball's Kaelyn Freed, Emily Heath, Carly Koltko, Sam Kowalski and Morgan Teodosio have all been named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday afternoon. 

To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District consideration, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve, achieve sophomore or higher standing and maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50.

Freed appeared in 37 games as a junior in 2025, starting in 34 of them. The Sun Valley, Calif., native played all of her games in center field, finishing the season with 34 putouts on 37 chances for a .946 fielding percentage. She also tallied nine runs, three RBIs and two doubles on offense. In the classroom, Freed maintains a 3.61 cumulative GPA as a Psychology major. 

Heath made 20 appearances in the circle for the Pioneers with 12 starts. She picked up four wins on the season with three complete games and 25 strikeouts. The Coventry, R.I., led SHU to a pair of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) wins, throwing all seven innings at Rider on March 22. Academically, Heath owns a near-perfect cumulative GPA of 3.98 as a Biology major. 

Koltko, who split time between first base and designated player, appeared in all but one game as a senior in 2025. She finished the year tied for second on the team with four home runs and was third with 21 RBIs. The product of Redondo Beach, Calif., tallied a career-best 16 runs while hitting .263. She graduated this spring with a degree in Health Science: Health Care Administration, owning a GPA of 3.52. 

Kowalski continued to be the Pioneers' ace in the circle, starting 25 games and appearing in 33 in the circle. She earned 12 of SHU's 21 wins on the season, recording a career-low 2.17 ERA with a career-best 180 strikeouts over 171.0 innings. The San Clemente, Calif., native ended the season ranked third in the conference in strikeouts and ERA. At the plate, Kowalski ranked second on the team with a .325 batting average, adding 12 RBIs, seven runs, nine doubles and a triple to her stat line. The junior Psychology major owns a cumulative GPA of 3.62. 

Teodosio had a breakout senior campaign, setting new career highs in batting average (.306), hits (38), RBIs (27), runs (17), double (5), triple (2) and homers (4). She led the team in RBIs and triples while tying for second in homers. Teodosio, a senior from nearby Ansonia, Conn., put the finishing touches on a Finance degree this spring, as she held a GPA of 3.67.
