LAST TIME OUT
The Pioneers welcomed a challenging Marist squad to Pioneer Park last weekend, suffering three hard-fought losses to the Red Foxes. Marist took both ends of the doubleheader on Friday, 5-0 and 12-0, before escaping with a 4-3 win in the single game on Saturday. The finale was a back-and-forth affair, with SHU tying the Red Foxes twice, but a fifth-inning run sealed the win for the visitors. Charlene Davis led the way for the Pioneers with a .444 batting average, going 4-for-9 with a run. Sam Kowalski was strong at the plate and in the circle, tallying two RBIs and two doubles while striking out 10 Marist batters over 11.2 innings.

THANK YOU SENIORS
Prior to Sunday's finale, the Pioneers will celebrate Senior Day and will recognize the graduating players on both rosters. The Pioneers will acknowledge the seven graduating Bobcats before paying special attention to Morgan TeodosioCayla Nista and Carly Koltko. SHU will honor these three players for their hard work and dedication to Sacred Heart softball over their collegiate careers.

TWO WAY PLAYER
Kowalski showed why she is a stellar two-way player against Marist. The junior recorded two hits at the plate, both doubles, as she was integral to the Pioneers hanging strong in the Saturday finale. Kowalski tallied two of the team's three RBIs in the game and scored the other run. In the circle, she went all 7.0 innings, giving up two earned runs while striking out five batters, giving her 10 K's over the series.

SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC
The Bobcats sit in the top half of the MAAC standings, ranking fifth with an 11-7 league record. Quinnipiac is coming off a doubleheader sweep of Manhattan in its most recent games after dropping two of three at Merrimack the weekend before. Senior Sydney Horan leads the QU pitching staff, ranking first in the country with 21 complete games, fifth with 172.1 innings pitched and sixth with 26 starts. She owns a 3.29 ERA and a 14-14 record after winning 11 of her last 13. Junior infielder Sofia Vega has been a key piece on offense with team highs in runs (24) and RBIs (22).

UP NEXT
The Pioneers hit the road on Tuesday, Apr. 29, for a MAAC doubleheader at Merrimack, kicking off at 2 p.m. at the Warrior Softball Diamond in North Andover, Mass.
