FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University softball team hosts Saint Peter's for a midweek Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) doubleheader on Tuesday, Apr. 1, beginning with game one at 2 p.m. before heading to Yale for a non-conference twin bill on Wednesday, Apr. 2.

LAST TIME OUT
The Pioneers head into Tuesday coming off their first MAAC sweep against Niagara. SHU took the first game 5-3 before sweeping the doubleheader on Saturday with a 12-3 victory in the nightcap. The Pios capped the weekend with a 9-1 win in the finale on Sunday.
Morgan Teodosio was outstanding for Sacred Heart in the series, hitting .545 with a .727 slugging percentage. The senior captain racked up six RBIs and three runs in her six hits, which included her second triple of the season.
Nicole Henke was also outstanding, with seven RBIs, a home run and a double.
Sam Kowalski tallied complete-game wins in both of her starts against the Purple Eagles, finishing with a 2.15 ERA and 13 strikeouts.
WE'VE GOT POWER
The Pioneers saw major production this weekend up and down the lineup, as eight players tallied RBIs in the sweep. Henke led the way with seven RBIs and an .875 slugging percentage. The junior tallied her second six-RBI game of the season in the nightcap win on Saturday, highlighting her performance with a walk-off grand slam. Teodosio was not far behind Henke with six RBIs in the series, posting a walk-off of her own with a triple on Sunday.

SCOUTING SAINT PETER'S
The Peacocks head into Tuesday with a 9-16 overall record and are 1-5 in the MAAC after dropping two of three to Merrimack this weekend. Saint Peter's split a doubleheader on Friday, falling 7-1 in the opener and winning game two 7-2. The Warriors took the finale by a 6-4 final score. Redshirt sophomore third baseman Tai Turner has been SPU's best hitter this season with 20 RBIs, seven doubles, two triples and three home runs. She owns a stellar average of .370 and a .617 slugging percentage. First year Ava White leads the pitching staff with a 4.48 ERA, 34 strikeouts and four wins.
SCOUTING YALE
The Bulldogs are 15-16 overall heading into Wednesday, owning a 9-7 record since last meeting the Pioneers at the Bulldog Invitational on March 9. Yale is coming off three losses to Princeton this weekend, as the Tigers won by a combined score of 17-0. Junior Emma Taylor commands the pitching Yale pitching staff as she leads the Ivy League with 19 appearances, 18 starts and eight wins. At the plate, Lauren Perren paces the Bulldogs with 31 RBIs, seven home runs and a .370 batting average.
