Baseball Drops Midweek Game to Bryant

G. Donohue and Ungar each tallied two hits

Box Score SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team fell to Bryant on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference match-up, 10-4. Gavin Donohue and Alex Ungar each secured two hits for the Pios.

How it Happened:
The Pioneers got on the board first in the top of the first with a RBI base hit from Steak Newman.
 
After a few quiet innings, the Bulldogs took a one-run lead in the fifth with a fielder's choice and a Pio throwing error.
 
The Pios immediately tied things up as Peter Link plated Alex Ungar with a ground out.
 
The tie did not last long as the Bulldogs secured a three-run home run for the 5-2 lead. 
 
In the seventh, SHU came within one of the Bulldogs as Gavin Donohue plated his brother Ronan Donohue with a base hit up the right side. Zack Kovalchik got caught in a run down between third and home which he was able to capitalize on a throwing error from the catcher scoring another run to close things up 5-4.
 
Bryant added five more runs to secure the win with two, two RBI singles and a sacrifice fly.

The Pioneers return to conference play with a weekend series at Siena beginning on Friday at 3 p.m.
