LAST TIME OUT
The Pioneers went 3-2 at the Bulldog Invitational this past weekend, winning the first three games against Maine and Central Connecticut (2x) by a combined score of 26-9. Unfortunately for SHU, the event ended with setbacks against Maine and Yale. At the plate,
Savannah Moore continued to rake, hitting .389 with seven RBIs, three runs and two home runs. In the circle,
Sam Kowalski led the pitching staff with a 1.75 ERA and 19 strikeouts. She went 1-1 at the event with a complete-game shutout of Maine in the opener.
HELLO ELLE
At the Bulldog Invitational, first year pitcher and utility player
Elle Leckrone broke out for the Pios. The La Cañada, Calif., native hit .357 with four runs, one RBI and three walks. She reached base four times in SHU's 10-2 win over CCSU on Friday. She also made two appearances in the circle on the weekend, earning her first collegiate win over the Blue Devils on Saturday.
SCOUTING BROWN
The Bears head into this weekend with a 7-5 overall record after dropping their last three games. Brown was off to its best start since 2016 with a 7-2 record before a pair of losses at Belmont and one at Lipscomb. Senior catcher/utility player Laurel Moody has been outstanding to start the season as she owns a .389 batting average with 11 RBIs, eight runs and four home runs. She leads the Ivy League in homers and slugging percentage (.806) and is third in doubles (3) and RBIs. The Bears' pitching staff, which paces the Ivy with a 4.35 ERA, is led by senior Alexis Guevara with a 1.84 ERA. She is 3-2 on the season with three complete games, one being a shutout.
