NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Maria Alvim made a big impression against one of the top programs in the nation. Alvim finished 3-0 in epee to lead a pesky effort against No. 12 Yale on Saturday inside Payne Whitney Gym. The Bulldogs ended up with a 22-5 victory. 
 
The Pioneers fell 6-3 in epee. Yale won saber 7-2 and foil 9-0. 
 
Valery Krylova led the sabre squad with a 2-1 record. 
 
Next up for the Pioneers is the NYC Duel on Feb. 12.
