Hayes Takes Record in 600m to Conclude Seahawk Shootout

Pioneersenior grabs school record in solid outing

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.  Lance Hayes' school record in the 600m run accentuated a strong outing the for the Sacred Heart University men's track and field contingency as it wrapped up competition at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout on Friday evening. 
 
Hayes, who took fifth in the 600m run, grabbed his first school-record with a time of 1:21.90 in the event as the Pios had a strong day on the track. Elsewhere in sprints, first year Colin Brown took a top 10 finish in the 300m dash with a time of 35.09 seconds. 
 
In the mid-distance, Jordan Leon took fourth in the 1000m run with a time of 2:34.17 while Patrck Curreri took ninth in the event after securing a time of 2:37.80. In the 3000m, Michael Mason grabbed seventh having recorded a time of 8:44.66. 
 
Rounding out the track portion of the day, SHU's quartet of sprinters in the 4x200 relay took ninth place as DeRonn Adams, Jacques Lucien II, Emmanuel Tabe and Damon Wilson grabbed a time of 1:32.30. In the 4x400m relay, SHU's squad of Brown, Alexander Rotondi, Hayes and Jacob Strain took fourth place with a time of 3:26.40 to conclude the day's events on the track. 
 
In the field portion of Friday's competition, Aidan Glennon continued his strong start to the season, taking third place in shot put with a mark of 15.35m on his second throw. First year Tyler Durang had a strong outing as well in the weighted throw, taking fifth with a mark of 15.97m on his fourth throw. 
 
In Jumps, Nazir Hibbert claimed SHU's lone top 10 finish, placing ninth in the high jump after clearing 1.90m on his second attempt. Full meet results can be found here: https://milesplit.live/meets/650534/events.
