FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The close points down the stretch didn't go Sacred Heart University's way in Friday's men's volleyball contest at Purdue Fort Wayne. The Mastodons topped the Pioneers, 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-12).

SHU had a 21-20 advantage in the opening frame, but the Mastodons won three-straight points, and four of the last five, to take the set.
 
A Mark Berry kill tied set two, 20-20, but a pair of Pioneer errors gave PFW the narrow margin it needed to take a 2-0 set advantage. 
 
The Pioneers couldn't slow down Purdue Fort Wayne's offense as the host hit .368. The Mastodons also had the advantage in blocks (9-3) and aces (9-4) while benefiting from 15 SHU service errors.
 
Posting a season-high 13 kills was junior Mark Berry to lead all players. He and Patrick Mucherino were tops on the squad with five digs while Mucherino added eight kills.
