Box Score COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Sacred Heart University women's volleyball team nearly pulled off a five-set comeback on the final day of the Carolina Classic, hosted by South Carolina. The Pioneers dropped a five-set decision to Nebraska Omaha, 3-2 (25-11, 26-24, 25-27, 25-20, 15-13) on Saturday.

The Pioneers found themselves in a 23-19 deficit in set two, but managed to fight back to tie it at 24-24 on an Omaha attack error. The Mavericks responded with a kill then a SHU error ended the set.

Sacred Heart let a 17-13 lead slip away in the third set and staved off two match points with a
Jasmine Rogers kill and block from
Reghan Palanchi and
Hunter Riedl. Back-to-back
Sarah Ciszek kills put the set away.

Midway through the fourth set, the Pioneers took control with a 5-1 run that featured a pair of kills and another Palanchi-Riedl block. Omaha got within 20-18, but Riedl produced three kills down the stretch to force a fifth set.

In the deciding set, a Ciszek kill and Riedl ace put the Pioneers up 9-7. Three SHU miscues allowed Omaha to take the lead. Twice Sacred Heart held off match point with a
Camryn Luginbuhl kill and block by
Kate Anderson and Riedl, but a hitting error gave UNO the match.

The Mavericks outhit the Pioneers, .225-to-.194, and had a 17-12 blocks advantage. SHU also committed 13 service errors.

For the second match in a row, Ciszek recorded a triple-double with 43 assists, 13 kills and 12 digs. Luginbuhl led the Pioneers with 19 kills and added 10 digs for her second double-double in a row. For the second time in three matches, Riedl had a double-double as well with a career-highs of 12 kills and a dozen digs.
