Pioneers too Much for Chargers 3-1

McClung just misses double-double.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Back at home for the final time in the 2022 campaign, the Sacred Heart University men's volleyball team came through with its second win in as many days. The Pioneers ousted Lancaster Bible College, 3-1 (25-22, 25-20, 22-25, 25-21), on Saturday.

Of Note:
The visitor had a 21-19 lead in the opening frame before they handed the Pioneers the set thanks to five-straight errors, including a Tyler Kwinta ace. SHU grabbed a 2-0 lead thanks to a run in the middle of set two that included two Dylan McClung kills and a solo block.
 
A Carlos Terrassa kill pulled SHU within 19-18 in the third set, but the Pioneers couldn't close the gap. Set four went back and forth until LBC sandwiched a pair of errors around a McClung kill. Back-to-back kills by McClung and Aaron Peterson ended the match.
 
Leading the Pioneers for the second night in a row was Patrick Mucherino and McClung with a dozen winners each. McClung just missed a double-double with a season-high nine digs.
 
Setter Tyler Kwinta handed out 33 assists. Ife Loverton produced six blocks.
 
Sacred Heart outhit the Chargers, .262-to-.198, including .406 in the fourth set.
 
The 10 wins by the Pioneers is the most since the 2017 campaign when SHU went 15-11.
