Box Score TEANECK, N.J. – Fairleigh Dickinson snapped the Sacred Heart University women's tennis team's four-game win streak, 4-3, on Tuesday. The Northeast Conference matchup wrapped up regular-season league play as the Pioneers finish 5-2.
Both teams tallied three singles wins apiece. Sophomore
Katsiaryna Starastsenka topped her opponent in straight sets at number one, 6-4, 6-4. Both
Vitalina Golod and
Olivia Kharkover outlasted their opponent in three sets at the third and sixth spot. The win for Kharkover capped off a perfect NEC debut for the rookie as she finished 4-0 at six singles.
The match was ultimately decided by the doubles point.
Kim Fenton and Golod got the job done, 6-2, at second doubles, but the Knights came out on top in first and third. The Fenton and Golod duo have proven to be a deadly pair against NEC opponents. The tandem extends to a four-match win streak as they post a 3-0 conference record in the second spot.
SHU closes out the regular season on Friday at NJIT to tune up before the NEC Championship that's slated for April 14-16.
