BROOKLYN, NY – After staving off a pair of match points, the Sacred Heart University men's volleyball team could not come through with the road victory on Saturday. The Pioneers lost, 3-2 (25-23, 17-25, 16-25, 25-21, 18-16) at St. Francis Brooklyn.

The start of the fifth set was bleak as the Pioneers fell behind, 6-1. SHU works its way back into the set and pulled even, 7-7, on a SFBK error. Sacred Heart would pull even four times, including 16-16 on an
Aaron Peterson kill, but couldn't take the lead.

The hosts grabbed the opening set, but the Pioneers took the second and third sets for a 2-1 lead. The serve of
Patrick Mucherino helped Sacred Heart grab the advantage.

Sacred Heart had the advantage in nearly every category with margins in hitting percentage (.269-.170), digs (50-40) and kills (61-52).Â
