NEWARK, N.J. – The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team struggled to get it going on either side of the net Friday night against NJIT. The Highlanders defeated the Pioneers, 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-13).

Of Note:
Midway through the first and second sets the Highlanders used a run to separate from the Pioneers. A pair of Dylan McClung kills got SHU within 18-15 in set two, but that's as close as the Pioneers would get. 
 
NJIT had a .467-to-.094 hitting advantage. The hosts also had 35 digs to the Pioneers' 19.
 
McClung and senior middle blocker Ife Loverton recorded a half dozen kills each. Patrick Mucherino followed with five winners. Aaron Peterson produced three blocks.
