Stetson maintained its lead with four runs across the third and fourth innings.

The Pioneers had a chance to cut the deficit in the top of the fourth with Sam Mongelli on first and Joe Emerson on second, but strong pitching kept them off the board. The Hatters only faced 11 batters across the first three innings with two stranded on base and only allowed one hit in the next two innings to keep the Pioneers scoreless.

Mongelli put Sacred Heart on the board as he cranked one out of left field in the seventh inning. The next frame, the shortstop doubled down the left field to bring Emerson home.

Coming in to play first base in the seventh inning, Steven Schoen drove home Mongelli and Robert Farruggio with a single up the left field line to cut the deficit within nine.

Charlie Costello inherited two in scoring position with only one out in the bottom of the fourth before exiting in inning in four at bats. The first-year didn't allow a run on four hits with three strikeouts in 2.2 innings of work.

Tim Cotter closed out the final three innings with no runs on a single hit and stuck out three batters.
