PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Sacred Heart University women's tennis team snapped a three-game losing streak upon its return from its spring break trip in Florida. The Pioneers topped Providence, 5-2, on Thursday to move to 8-10 on the year.
Despite a 6-0 doubles win from
Vitalina Golod and
Kim Fenton, the Friars took the doubles point with wins at first and third.
In singles,
Katsiaryna Starastsenka,
Ciara O'Toole,
Aina Garriga and
Olivia Kharkover all won in straight sets. Sophomore
Flavia Rambaldi took fifth singles in three sets. After taking the first set, 6-0, Rambaldi dropped the second, 4-6, before outlasting her opponent, 10-8.
The Pioneers resume play on Saturday, March 26 when they host Northeast Conference opponent St. Francis Brooklyn at 6 p.m.
