SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- The Sacred Heart University softball team lost a pair of games on day two of UC Santa Barbara tournament on Saturday as they fell 8-3 to South Dakota State and 8-2 to Princeton.

Of Note:
- The Pioneers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Jenna Mowad launched her first home run of the season to left field.
- In the bottom of the second inning, the Jack Rabbits would pull ahead with three runs off an error at third base followed by an RBI single through the left side.
- South Dakota State put up one more run in the bottom of the third to take a 4-1 lead before Emily Carroll ripped an RBI single through the right side to cut the lead to 4-2 in the top of the fourth.
- The Jack Rabbits responded back with four more runs in the bottom half of the inning off a pair of RBI doubles and one RBI single to give South Dakota State a 8-2 lead.
- An RBI double to left center by Amy Petrovich narrowed the Jack Rabbit lead to 8-3 but SHU was unable to rally back after the Petrovich double.

- The Tigers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first off a pair of RBI doubles.
- Neither team would score after the opening runs until the sixth inning when Princeton tallied three runs off two doubles and two singles to take a 5-0 lead.
- SHU responded in the bottom of the inning as Emily Carroll ripped an RBI single down the left field line to score in Alyssa Gonzalez. SHU tallied one more in the inning off an error by the catcher to narrow the Tiger lead to 5-2.
- Princeton recorded three more runs in the top of the seventh resulting in the 8-2 loss.
