SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- The Sacred Heart University softball team dropped its opening games at the UC Santa Barbara tournament on Friday as they fell 11-3 to Princeton and 10-1 to host UC Santa Barbara.

- After a scoreless first inning, Princeton found home eight times in the second inning with a solo home run and two-run home run highlighting in the inning to take an 8-0 lead.
- The Tigers scored one more in the third inning off a single to center field to take a 9-0 lead heading into the fourth inning.
- The Pioneers were able to get on the scoreboard in the fifth inning as Emily Carroll ripped a single to right field scoring in Alyssa Gonzalez and Brianna Santos to narrow the Princeton lead to 9-2.
- SHU scored one more run in the inning off a fielder's choice ground out to first scoring in Rachel Kohler tighten the lead to 9-3.
- Princeton racked up two more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to result in the 11-3 loss.

- UC Santa Barbara took a commanding 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as a pair of RBI singles and one RBI double scored in three runs for the Gauchos.
- The Pioneers responded in the following inning as Grace Saad tallied her second home run of the year to narrow the Gaucho lead to 3-1.
- UC Santa Barbara countered with three more runs in the bottom of the inning followed by a four-run third inning which featured a pair of RBI doubles to secure the 10-1 victory.
