Women’s Fencing Captures Four Wins at Second NFC Meet

Saber squad went undefeated through five rounds.

WELLESLEY, Mass. — Jenna Jacinto posted two undefeated rounds in the foil for the Sacred Heart University women's fencing team on Saturday. The Pioneers dominated at the second Northeast Fencing Conference meet with four wins.

In rounds two and five, the first-year's 3-0 bout record helped the Pioneers secure a 7-2 and 8-1 triumph over Boston University and UMass.

Tia Petrides also went undefeated in rounds two and five to aid the massive win for the foil threesome.

Tiffany Kellstrom recorded the winning bout for the Red & White saber squad in the narrow 5-4 victory over Wellesley. The sophomore sealed a 2-1 victory bout record in round two against BU.

Along with Kellstrom, Emma Marchetta-Turner delivered a 2-1 bout record in the 7-2 saber win in the second round. The Longmeadow Mass. Native tallied a 2-0 record in the fifth round against the Minutemen.

Sophie Witek led the saber unit with two 3-0 bout records in rounds two and five for a 7-2 triumph over the Terriers and UMass.

Alongside her veteran saber colleagues, Jessica Young came in as relief in round five to snatch the fifth point against the Minutemen.

In the strong 8-1 win in the final round for SHU, Brianne Lynch went 2-0 in the foil against UMass.

For the final meet of the season, Sacred Heart travels to Columbia on February 16.
