SHELTON, Conn. — In the final regular season game, the Sacred Heart University women's ice hockey team dropped a 1-0 contest to Franklin Pierce. A Ravens powerplay goal midway through the third broke the stalemate on Saturday.
The Pioneers remain as the fourth seed with a 15-14-2 overall record and 10-8-2 in the NEWHA, while Franklin Pierce sealed the top spot at 20-9-1 and 16-4-0.
Frankie Sanchez made 31 saves in 57 minutes of play.
SHU will host #5 Post in a single elimination quarterfinal as the third seed will host last place Saint Michaels on March 1.
After the conclusion of the quarterfinals, the winners will be reseeded for the semi-final round, which will be hosted by the regular season conference champion.
